My friend and I stayed here in February 2011 and had a great time. The staff and guide were excellent. Everyone was so friendly. The food was outstanding...although I would have loved to know a little bit more about what I was eating. The room was very nice but it was rustic which we loved. We wanted to be in the middle of the jungle and be close to nature and we were. The tours were great. Very peaceful and relaxing but also informative. We had a great time and would highly recommend staying here if you are visiting the Amazon. Lianne

The Tupana Lodge is amazing! 4 hrs away from Manaus, in the middle of the jungle on the Tupana river, it offers unexpected comfort in a location of incomparable beauty and peace. Electricity is supplied for most of the day but there is no connection the outside world apart from a boat - we didn't miss it much. They have a brillant cook and great staff, the guided excursions are a unique experience. Plus, the area is relatively mosquito free. You will mostly come across a great variety of insects and birds, but we also saw dolphins, caymans, monkeys and tapirs. There is a resident monkey to be mindful of, as per other reviews. Rachel

A viagem é interessante. A comida é óptima.
Rui Ramalho

We stayed at the Tupana lodge for 4 days last August and we had a terrific time. The lodge is located about 4 hours from Manaus. A driver picks you up at your hotel in Manaus, you transfer on a boat to cross the amazona river, then it is a good 2-3 hour ride on the Transamazonia and finally a 20 minutes boat trip to the lodge. But it is worth the trip; the lodge is so far away that when you do get there, it is completely peaceful. You feel completely disconnected. We enjoyed all the activities organised, namely the piranha fishing, boat riding, trekking (day and night), visit to a local farm, sunset watch, etc. The one activity that we were a bit nervous about was the overnight in the jungle. But it turned out to be a fantastic experience! We appreciated that we had free time between the activities during the afternoon since the it was very hot and humid at that time. The rooms are very very basic. I would suggest to reserve a deluxe room with an hamack since it is very nice to just relax in the middle of the afternoon or at night watching the milky way. I would also suggest to bring a good flash light (or head light) since it can be dark (especially in the bathroom). The food is really good and plenty. (Conchita - the resident wolley monkey - and Romeo - the tapir - are both extremely charming!).Overall, a great and relaxing experience in the middle of the amazon! Veronika

Nothing to add compare to others comments. Peacefull environnement, and I appreciate such a small lodge (10 rooms). Such quality and confort in the middle of the jungle cost some money, but it worth it. Mudit Jaju

What an unforgettable experience. We went to the Tupana lodge for 3 nights-- stayed in a very big and comfortable bungalow overlooking the jungle. Every expereince we had there was great!! Great food, and we had an awesome guide-- his name was Nicos-- he was so knowledgeable about the jungle, and taught us a lot about surviving out in the jungle. We fished and cooked piranhas, caught caymans, saw amazing sunrises and sunsets in the flooded forests, spent an unforgettable night out in the jungle ( on hammocks, a little scary) , befriended a cute and mischievous monkey named "Coshita" and had an amazing time!! We recommend this place highly! It is not crowded with tourists, you truly are out in the middle of nowhere, and will have an authentic amazon experience. Desiree Zenaida

I stayed there with my girlfriend for a week last october, and it was certainly one of the best vacations we ever had.
The location is deeply beaultiful, and the lodge surprisingly cozy and welcoming. After a few hours we felt like home, in the core of the Amazon forest. The staff is so friendly, food was delicious (we even fished some of our meals), the guide was really nice and savvy, and all the excursions were amazing. Really worth it. Plus: due to the low pH of the waters, THERE ARE NO MOSQUITOES in the whole area!! Unbelievable!! Tiago Otani

We really enjoyed our stay at the Tupana. Everything was perfectly running nad the outdoor activities are well organized with really professional guides. Food is tasty and service really careful.Gianluca Lorio

Thais Lefcadito

My wife and I spent four days (3 nights) at the Tupana and had a fantastic adventure. We chose this lodge as we did not want a "tourist trap" lodge with large volume and many guests - and we were not disappointed. The lodge is 180 km south of Manaus and takes about 4 adventurous hours in boat / van / ferry / canoe to reach - an exciting trip in itself. The lodge itself is quite simple - rooms with a dining area, but all very clean and spacious. We had a really good time with all of the adventures (alligator spotting, piranha fishing, visiting a local family, dolphin watching, swimming in the river, and especially sleeping overnight in the jungle - without mosquito nets!!). The location is perfect, and being next to a black water river there were very few mosquitos!!
The food was authentic (various local fish, meat, and vegetables) and delicious. There was a friendly monkey at the lodge that roamed around and visited people, as well as a few birds - that just hung around! All very cool.
Being a "small" lodge we met some really great friends and had an experience of a lifetime. If you want an authentic adventure in the Amazon at a fantastic lodge, I highly recommend the Tupana. Special mention for Luciana at Viverde who organized the trip - she did a wonderful job! Craig & Kerry Fowler

Now finishing our beautiful holidays in Brazil with a lot of highlights between Sao Paulo, Bahia and Amazonia Birgit and me, we are dead sure, that the days in the Amazon Tupana lodge have been the most impressing. The perfect organization with pick up at the airport - though our flight was changed completely -, the impressive boat ride with "temperature test" at the meeting of the waters and the warm reception in the Lodge was only the beginning of 3 exiting days. Rosivaldo of course was our coach in the rain forest and I will never forget, how we crossed the Igapo. Absolutely great. Rosivaldo was a very patient teacher for our survival training, since we hardly could memorize all the names like Tucuma, Enga, Capuaco…Great also the evenings, where we watched the river dolphins or the 3 m Chacare, where we at least saw the head. Fortunately we had to keep in our hands only a 60 cm long representative of this species. It was stress enough!! A very special moment was also the canue excursion with Marlon to the powerfull nasciva Theresa, who once shot an Anaconda. She is really impressive. Oh, I must not forget the surprise in the middle of nowhere, after 3 hours jungle path, starving and then… (pssst, secret!). Please say our hello to the whole team, also to the kitchen providing tasteful food from the Amazonas region. It was a wonderful time! We suggest Amazon Tupana to everybody, who likes to feel the real nature far away from mobile phone and internet. Mit freundlichen Grüßen . Krishna Shah

The 3 days with you in the jungle were the highlight of our stay in Brazil. Iguacu Falls and Rio were spectacular but can’t compare with the solitude and peace of the flooded rainforest. We loved it at the lodge where the food, accommodation and hospitality were superb. In particular, we enjoyed the excursions with Walter in the canoe at daybreak and sunset paddling amongst the treetops watching the birds and monkeys and listening to the sounds of the jungle. Another highlight was, of course, the wild ride in the dark Cayman spotting with Josebaldo. We certainly could not have picked a better guide than you, Walter, and Tupana Lodge was a very good choice. Thank you both for a memorable experience. We hope to see you again some day. All the best, Anne and Martin
